Halloween is a time for people to dress up as what they are not, and have some fun. The Mean Girls definition is " the only night of the year that a girl can dress like s slut and no other girls can say anything about it" personally i think this is the one night of the year social barriers are down, everyone looks ridiculous and everyone wants to have a very good time. With this in the back of my mind i decided to base my latest project for Photojournalism class off this glorious night of events. In our latest assignment we have, is to take photos of your friends, and photos of strangers and let our class try to guess who you know and who is totally a stranger. i decided people will be more easygoing about me taking their photos if they are already crazy looking to begin with, also i decided that if i took the photos at the bar, they might be too drunk to get mad at me for randomly snapping a picture of them. so here we go with the fun.

Tickets, Tickets and sadly more Tickets

The city of Milwaukee's excessive parking tickets

When a person goes out at night in Milwaukee they can either pay the 5-10$ parking lot fee’s, take a cab or try to park in one of the few free lots. The previous night some friends and I went out downtown, because of work early in the morning I just drove my car and was the responsible one in the group. I parked in a free lot and when we came out to go home I had a $30 ticket for “not parking on a complete angle.”

OK…. um my car was on an angle, maybe not 45 degrees but it was on an angle, when I parked that’s how the other cars around me where, so that’s how I was also.

This issue wouldn’t even make me mad if I hadn’t just given the city $12 for a night parking pass two days before, and I have gotten 4 other night parking tickets since September 1st.

For the love of god, the city of Milwaukee needs to find a better way to get another source of income than parking tickets because the reasons to charge a person are becoming ridiculous!

Listed on the Milwaukee website are the almost 100 reasons a person can get a ticket… some of them are actually funny: Police Department

Among them are my favorite:

• Parked in Taxicab Stand
• Car Key Ignition Ordinance
• Snow Emergency Regulation 4 + Inches

Please learn from my mistakes and remember that in the city of Milwaukee they strive for excellence when it comes to parking. Just a thought, maybe they can take all the money they make on tickets and pay more patrol officers to drive around the UWM campus after dark, it seems that is a little bigger of an issue.

The tree stays green.

After 2 days with 40-50 degrees, one would think my tree would decide to at least change to a golden color, but this time sadly she is still green. When most of the trees around it have lost all their leaves, this tree looks like its the beginning of September not October. We will have to see how much longer the tree holds on.

Photo class: section 2, for this project we had to document something. I decided to document time, and to show how it passes with the seasons. My plan was to take a photo of a tree losing its leaves over a two weeks period. On a normal October in Wisconsin leaves change pretty colors, but because it has been so warm none of the maple trees are changing yet. This project ended up a collection of photos of the same tree at different times of the day and how the sunlight makes the tree look. Here is my personal favorite, it was on the foggiest morning in a long time. the tree stands out but the fog blurs out the background really well.
