P.R. press project.
in my experience as a photographer i have done work for my employers. this summer i worked at a summer camp, when we would travel i would take pictures of the kids on field trips and then upload them to the camp website for the parents to see what their kids where doing, i would also do promotional photos for their books about camp they would send out to new families. In the photo is three of the girls i lived with, this picture was used for the camp website. other work is seen, http://www.camptaconic.com/
some of the other photos i took for camp are on the blocked site for the parents who have a password to see.

recently i have been taking some fun shots for the swim team i coach for, they are up on our website. http://www.ssty.org/photo-gallery.htm i cannot take credit for all of the photographs on this page, only the most recent album, there is a large amount i had no part in taking.

This project was the most fun out of all of our assignments, i took all of my pictures at the same pool that i coach at and i tired to get angles that a swimmer sees not a spectator. I took a lot of them standing on the start blocks, or laying down with the camera at water level. i wanted to get the viewer to feel like they where taking the picture. i wanted to relate the feelings or intensity and passion a swimmer has for every race. the model i used will remain unnamed, she is a local high school senior who has swam for our team since she was 11 years old, and she also is an assistant on our coaching staff. i hope you enjoy my photos!

A Swimmers Life

For my photojournalistic essay I decided to capture the intensity and motivation that every competitive swimmer has for every days practice. As a competitive swimmer I know that some days getting into the pool is the hardest thing next to going to a class I hate. But it is something that deep down I know I have to do. When I get out of the pool I think about what I have just accomplished, and I have to tell you, it is the best feeling in the world. After a few weeks your body starts to get used to all the work that you do and practice becomes second nature. The muscle pain, and soreness sadly becomes a good feeling, because you know how hard you worked. The pride you have in yourself, and all that you are able to accomplish gets you from day to day.
Today I spend some of my time coaching the youngest kids on our team. I coach for Schroeder swim team. We are a team that has established itself in the swimming world as a fierce competitor with coaches who really know their stuff. I look up to the other coaches for advice, they teach me stroke mechanics, and tricks of the trade.
Since I retired from swimming at the university level 2 years ago I still go and cheer my old teammates on and watch the new talent that have filled my shoes. The university of Milwaukee swim team has become one of the most powerful swim teams in the horizon league

Halloween is a time for people to dress up as what they are not, and have some fun. The Mean Girls definition is " the only night of the year that a girl can dress like s slut and no other girls can say anything about it" personally i think this is the one night of the year social barriers are down, everyone looks ridiculous and everyone wants to have a very good time. With this in the back of my mind i decided to base my latest project for Photojournalism class off this glorious night of events. In our latest assignment we have, is to take photos of your friends, and photos of strangers and let our class try to guess who you know and who is totally a stranger. i decided people will be more easygoing about me taking their photos if they are already crazy looking to begin with, also i decided that if i took the photos at the bar, they might be too drunk to get mad at me for randomly snapping a picture of them. so here we go with the fun.

The city of Milwaukee's excessive parking tickets

When a person goes out at night in Milwaukee they can either pay the 5-10$ parking lot fee’s, take a cab or try to park in one of the few free lots. The previous night some friends and I went out downtown, because of work early in the morning I just drove my car and was the responsible one in the group. I parked in a free lot and when we came out to go home I had a $30 ticket for “not parking on a complete angle.”

OK…. um my car was on an angle, maybe not 45 degrees but it was on an angle, when I parked that’s how the other cars around me where, so that’s how I was also.

This issue wouldn’t even make me mad if I hadn’t just given the city $12 for a night parking pass two days before, and I have gotten 4 other night parking tickets since September 1st.

For the love of god, the city of Milwaukee needs to find a better way to get another source of income than parking tickets because the reasons to charge a person are becoming ridiculous!

Listed on the Milwaukee website are the almost 100 reasons a person can get a ticket… some of them are actually funny: Police Department

Please learn from my mistakes and remember that in the city of Milwaukee they strive for excellence when it comes to parking. Just a thought, maybe they can take all the money they make on tickets and pay more patrol officers to drive around the UWM campus after dark, it seems that is a little bigger of an issue.

The tree stays green.

After 2 days with 40-50 degrees, one would think my tree would decide to at least change to a golden color, but this time sadly she is still green. When most of the trees around it have lost all their leaves, this tree looks like its the beginning of September not October. We will have to see how much longer the tree holds on.

Photo class: section 2, for this project we had to document something. I decided to document time, and to show how it passes with the seasons. My plan was to take a photo of a tree losing its leaves over a two weeks period. On a normal October in Wisconsin leaves change pretty colors, but because it has been so warm none of the maple trees are changing yet. This project ended up a collection of photos of the same tree at different times of the day and how the sunlight makes the tree look. Here is my personal favorite, it was on the foggiest morning in a long time. the tree stands out but the fog blurs out the background really well.

Hello, this is my first Blog ever, also my first photography class ever, so wish me luck! In this photo I have a pair of my sunglasses in the grass at the park on one of the hottest September days I can ever remember. The sun was so strong it was blinding. I love the way the sun bounces off the glasses like it is a mirror. The way the sunlight brings out different shades of green in the grass, making each blade look florescent. The sunglasses are placed diagonally to lead your eves from the bottom right to top left, different than people are trained to read, or normally look at things. Overall I felt this photograph was my strongest out of the light photo's I took.
